Hello! I’m Laura, I’m a Graphic Designer based in Scotland.
I work across commercial design for Live Comedy and Theatre, and Graphic Props for Film & TV.
Who? What?
I’m a UK-based Graphic Designer with 6 years of experience specialising in branding, typography, art direction and photography. My creative practice is rooted in visual narrative, combining playful curiosity with problem-solving to craft cohesive, impactful solutions across a range of media.
With 4 years immersed in the entertainment industry from live comedy to theatre and prop design, I bring a strong understanding of narrative-driven visuals.
I’m fascinated by how design plays such a rich role in storytelling, characterisation and cultural ethnography. Historical research plays a central role in my process; uncovering visual languages of the past to inform the present.
I thrive in creative, collaborative environments where bold ideas meet thoughtful execution. I’m always looking for new ways to evolve my skills and contribute meaningfully to storytelling through design.
Why?
I went to Uni with what I thought were very clearly defined expectations of the role of a Graphic Designer. It meant commercial briefs, marketing a business. The philanthropic limitations of designers extended to promoting non-profit and third sector business. Sure, we could have a role in a circular economy, but really designers should stay in their lane, right?
During COVID, I took a break from Uni and gained experience supporting the Art Department on feature films. Suddenly, I realised that I could still put the practical commercial skills that I’d been honing for the past 12 years to use in a creative environment based on collaboration and visual storytelling. This hands-on experience fuelled my ambition to expand further into the Art Department, bringing my design expertise to the screen.
